Confusion. Not Confucius ;p

Jane had her 'phone divert' function on when she was on vacation. Think she must have forgotten to turn it off because something funny happened.

Jane's HK friend called her on her HK mobile phone the night after she left Kch. Coincidently, she was at a place where reception was bad so her friend got 'diverted' to Malaysia instead. I picked it up thinking that it must be Jane. Hmm... Very low voice.. This is not Jane! I didn't know how to react when I heard an unfamiliar voice. My mind went blank for a few seconds (felt like a long time!) & I became nervous when her friend spoke to me in Cantonese! I'm not fluent in Cantonese. Got 'Hakka' accent, if you know what i mean *wink* I have no problem in the names of dim sum though. After all, I worked (or ate) in a Dim Sum restaurant for years ;p

F: Ah Jane 啊？
M:Ah Jane 唔係度wor...
F: 虾? 你唔係Ah Jane?
M: 唔係. 我係佢细妹。
F: 虾？ 细妹? 咁Ah Jane leh?
M: Err... [Trying very hard to explain *cold sweat & heart pumping fast*] 其实里度係马来西亚。我会叫佢覆你电话。

F: 虾？ 咁怪gei? 我不明 worrrr.... 搞什么鬼啊? 係唔係玩野啊？

By now, my heart pumped even faster and my Cantonese became more 'chunky'. I was very anxious, wishing that he would stop asking questions. I really wanted to explain the situation to him but I didn't know how! I wondered if he understood my Cantonese haha...

M: Errr... 唔係wor。佢on左divert function. 我叫佢覆你电话吖。*can't wait to hang up*

F: Errr... 搞什么鬼啊? 咁怪gei? Errr... 好啊。*I was relieved*


Told Jane about it. We couldn't stop laughing. Apparently, her friend thought that he was speaking to Jane given that we sound exactly the same over the phone. He thought this is a prank! Funny. We confuse a lot of people when we are together. Even half a world apart, we still manage to cause confusion? 犀利哩? hehehe...
