The Angel and The DeVil

Yu, can be adorable and thoughtful like an angel. He says the most adorable things and says "OK" to everything u ask him to do and do just what you tell him to do.

At the same time, he can be a devil and that is when we really want to pack him into a box and send him home. You tell him to do 1, silence. You ask him if he hears what you say. Silence. You get mad at him and tell him to do it RIGHT NOW and he refuses and talks back and bad.

Parents. I salute u... for having to deal with this every day.

That day we went to Kuching Festival together to pull him out of his iPad, handphone, games addiction.  At first, he said he wanted to play some games to win a gift. After going round the games corner twice, he did some analysis and said, nah, the games are scams. Even if he wins, the value of the prize doesn't match the money he pays 😅 He is such a calculative careful boy.

We went to the AC area to see gifts and merchandizes. Yu is quite good at lego assembling and we saw shops selling many types of cartoon legos. The smallest set is only RM4.99 each.  According to Yu, this is cheap so we decided to each get one. Yu promised that he would assemble for us before his vacation ends. So, Yu bought a Lufi, Jane bought a Minnie Mouse and I bought a Tigger. Jane also bought a completed Pooh Bear which the cashier displayed at her counter for RM4.99.

Of course, it was through a lot of pushing and 'bribing" that he finally completed his Rufi and my Tigger. Poor Jane, her minnie mouse is still in "pieces". HA! Jane paid RM4.99 for a completed pooh bear is definitely more value for money than getting Yu to assemble for us 😂

Tigger and cactus done by Yu

I was hoping that I could have one set of Pooh & Friends Lego one day. I wonder if that hope would ever come true.

Someday, May be someday...

"Unsafe" Moment

I went to the bank last night.
I saw a lot of people gathering at the entrance.
Did something happen?

I looked from my car, I didn't see any policemen or anything unusual going on. But the crowd kinda made me think twice.  Is it safe to withdraw money here? Maybe I should come back other times, you know, just in case. After all, economy is pretty bad now and people are living a hard life. Robbing and stealing are increasingly common as they seem to be the easy ways to make money (sigh)...

Despite the 'unsafe' situation, I decided to proceed anyway.
People always say, you should follow your guts. if you feel unsafe, avoid it at all cost. But avoiding is not always the best solution. Sometimes you just need to learn to face it in order to become mighty.

I decided to go ahead, not because I wanna be mighty. Simply because am lazy to come back again or drive another 5km or so to the other branch. Yes i know. My reason is not so mighty :P

I took precautions when i was withdrawing money. I looked around making sure no one was near me, i walked behind another person when exiting so we 'seemed' to be not alone. Smart of me eh? hehe

Only when I was outside did I notice that the crowds each had a smart phone, charged with a power bank in their hands. Then i spotted one person's screen.

OH MY!

So these people were here, at 10pm something, to catch Pokemon monsters  >__<

The world needs to wake up from this game.

Don't you guys have better things to do?!

Why not catch the real bad guys instead of virtual ones? That would be more meaningful, right?

Meanwhile, my colleague's handmade poke angu kuih is quite delicious :P

She made this to sell too

Dinner with friends

Weekend is here! Yaye~

My friend celebrated our birthdays with us, the Scorpios 2 weeks ago. She took us to a 'mysterious' cafe for dinner. Why did i say mysterious? Because we had to drive through a narrow road and dark bush before we were greeted by this bright lit cafe. Kinda reminds me of  a Palace in the middle of nowhere~

It's a cafe where customers can officially bring their pets to have dinners with them. I heard from the owner that some people do bring very interesting pets with them, like snakes and tortoises.  Hmmm.. they are not my kind of pets in mind :P

While i was happily exploring the interesting cafe, my two friends decided to connect virtually with someone elses~ Hmmm.. what did i just said about being controlled by gadgets?

The green lighting they use at the cafe makes
the picture a bit spooky. I like!

Look, they are still playing with phones!
just look at their poses~

My "treasure" box

I was talking stars and galaxy the other day.. i think it's the word 银河社 (Yinhoo) which sent Jane down memory lane, then both of us and lj started to discuss about it haha....

When we were in primary school, we loved to read the catalogues from yinhoo. Haha, i just realised that we started our 'virtual' shopping experience at such a young age! I remember the catalogue contains a lot of stuff, from decorative to stationery, accessories to items which i have no idea what they are for. Honestly speaking, Jane and I bought a lot of cute and useless stuff from the catalogue.

At that time, it wasn't so easy to purchase from catalogue. First, we had to wait for the catalogues to be sent to us, then filled in the order form after which we had to go to post office to buy money order and finally sending everything off via airmail. After the long processes, the waiting game started! We had to wait very patiently (it could take weeks!) for the items to reach us.

We bought customized name cards which we didn't really give out, earrings which we never wore, bookmarks just because we liked the wordings or pictures, photos of idols which we didn't even look very often. We bought stickers because they were too cute not to buy. We bought things simply because they were too cute. I kept these in my treasure box which I still kept til now... :P

I dug out my treasure box last night. I used to have more items but when i moved around the world, I lost a few things, like the diary i wrote when i was in primary 4! :( Anyway, am still happy that i have this small treasure box with me. It holds my childhood memories... which reminded me where i had spent my hard-saved money on :P When i was small, my pocket money was 50c. Everyday, i would do a cash flow and decide how much i should save and how much i could spend. oooo looks like am destined to be a bean counter since primary school @_@

some of the treasures i've collected

These are just a small part of my treasures. Hey, the sundae and Lollipop stickers are very unique. A few scratches on their surfaces and u can smell strawberry and lollies!

The customised name cards are at the bottom left of the picture. My friends gave me theirs in exchange for mine.

Fido dido? hahaha... We were quite crazy over this 7-up character...

My cute pencils are still "new"

Bookmarks which never got to serve their purpose :P

My tin box which can be opened both sides
got lots of stickers inside! haha...

Playing cards with popular idol, bookmarks, pencils etc

With today's technology, it's so easy to spend unnecessarily on the internet. We don't have to go through the complicated manual processes like before. With just one click on the mouse (and also typing here and there la), the vendors received our order & money. Depends on locations, we sometimes received our items the next day!  And we can look at nice pictures of the products anytime anywhere and can do shopping 24-7! That kinda explains why Jane and I (*ahem* and some of my friends too) are addicted to online shopping. Looks like some old habits are hard to quit! :P

Although there are many much nicer e-catalogues to look at, somehow i still miss Yinhoo's catalogue. So when Jane and LJ mentioned about it, the child living inside me came to live. I was so excited when LJ said her sister still buys from Yinhoo and that she will go ask for the copy to lend us! I wonder if we still have to go through the manual processes since internet is so powerful nowadays...

As i was wondering, i suddenly thought, hey, maybe i should google just to find out. guess what? i found yinhoo on internet! They even have facebook account! WOW! am so excited and immediately check the site!

Guess what? There are still a lot of cute stuff and stuff i don't know what to do with :P love to look at the catalogues. it really brings back a lot of childhood memory!

From yinhoo's website

I feel like buying again :P

Health is Wealth!

Bye Bye

Wise Vs Wild Spending

Many people these days cannot live without internet... And because of that, many eateries & cafes offer free wifi as one of the ways to attract customers. There is even portable internet so people could go online anytime, anywhere. And sadly to say, I myself is turning into one of those people! haha...But am considered a 'light addict" because I do not subscribe to portable internet and don't mind being internet-less for a while ... yes, i still can live without internet hehe... BTW, do you know that some buses in HK provide free wifi too? Cool right!

Internet has made things very easy for us I must say.. And it also makes communicating with loved ones living abroad very convenient! So convenient that I feel as if we are never apart! Sometimes, I still miss the old fashion communication though.... love the feeling of receiving hard copy of handwritten letters!

I remember, i used to Q up for more than 1 hour just to pay my telephone, electricity etc bills. it was such a waste of my beautiful Saturday morning! Then when the companies no longer open on Saturdays, I had to sacrifice my precious lunch hour to rush to settle the bills... Sometimes I had to skip lunch because of the slow service >//< Then one day, i discovered that i could see my bills and pay my bills online for FREE!! What's better, I could pay whenever and wherever i like, like at 3 in the morning in Taipei! hiak hiak hiak.... What's more, I don't need to keep hard copies of receipts because the system keeps track of my payment history. So happy that I am saving trees too :P So Cool!

Lately, I started to get addicted to online shopping... Gosh, I never realise that I would become one of those mouse clicker shoppers just like Jane!@_@ I must say, it's just too convenient to resist! hehehe.. Guess what, I've bought coupons for Latte, digital weighing scales, foot spa device, 1 month use of gym.... I do practise my will power when it comes to online shopping.... u see, there are tonnes of things i wanted to get, like the candy floss machine, the 3-in-1 sandwich & waffle maker + BBQ grill, ice cream maker, yogurt maker etc but i didn't buy any of those... Simply because I'm a wise shopper hehehehehe.. OKie, I lied. I'm Jennifer, I'm an online shopaholic.... because i just spent on clothes with Jane on Taobao! T___T

Last weekend, J & I redeemed our food coupon at the cafe. The ice-cream in toast with mulberry sauce was yummy! Half way thru the ice cream, I realised that there was a piece of lettuce in the dessert... What is it for? probably as a decoration i guess.... I ate it anyway, it tasted really yummy, with ice cream!! It managed to make me feel healthy and less guilty for gulping down a fattening dessert! Yes, I can have another dessert! YUuummmm...

drool~~

I redeemed my latte too at a cafe at Waterfront on Sunday. There were a lot of tourists at the cafe and i kinda felt as if i was also on a relaxing holiday somewhere! *dreaming* It's good coz I could be "on holiday" without having to actually spend big bucks on trips! Yayeee.. that's one good reason to spend more online! hahahaha...

I want another cup!

Am waiting for my other online purchases to be sent to me... wooo.. i love opening presents! hehe.. However, I wouldn't be so grateful when i see my big fat credit card bill at the end of this month.... @_@ Nah, let's worry about that later.. In the meantime...

let me just enjoy life and big cheers to internet!! y(^V^)y

XOXO

Creative Hairdo

If your adorable niece insists on doing ur hair, what do you do? Hurt her fragile little heart by saying NO because u know u will end up with weird hairdo OR allow her to let her creativity runs wild so u will always be her favourite aunt?

It looks alright from the back

I smile because she is happy. BUT how to go to airport looking like this?

Definitely not easy being an aunt nowadays. Kids are getting more and more demanding!!

New Fashion Logos

What do u think of people with tattoos and body piercings? Some of us have the perception that only pai kia a.k.a gangsters decorate their bodies with these to show their 'special' status in the society. If you have seen HK Gangster Movies, you know what I'm talking about....

Our society has now changed. These are no longer the 'official logos' worn by pai kia or Gangsters. In fact, a long of Average people (young or old, fat or stick thin, tall or short, pretty or sorry looking, gangster or not etc) have one or more body piercings and/or tattoos on their backs, necks, ankles, hands, arms, shoulders and God knows where else! It's important not to overdo it though. You don't wanna end up looking like this dude below:
