Fresh from the Garden

Mum's treasures

She called all the way from down under just to tell me to pick and eat the passion fruits for it's AUD2 per fruit over there.

I teased mum that she would be earning big bucks if she had this grown
there haha.. This thing grows at a scary speed. If it were a country, it would be over-populated in a few days time! Even before I finish one, a few more are already waiting for me on the vine! It has invaded and totally concurred the mango and rambutan trees next to it too. Some fruits are so high up the trees that I can only look at them from below. They are cute with their light pink skin. Kinda look like Xmas ornaments *pretty*

I've been giving them away. There is NO WAY i could finish them all. And
it's sinful to let good stuff go down the drain.

And to make passion fruits interesting, i have them in all kind of ways
- eat them as they are; in my yogurt shake, milk shake, breakfast cereal and honey lime drink, which btw cost my friend 50,000 Dong/ $10. It was just an ordinary one (just PF + white sugar + some water from the street vendor's used mineral bottle) served in a crappy old plastic cup at the streetside of Hanoi...

I have so much passion fruits lately that i can smell the natural fruit scent on my body ^_^ *sweeEEEeeeet*

Autumn

The ground is covered with fallen leaves. It feels as if autumn is here.

Car park of my office

Looking at the fallen leaves, I can't help walking down the memory lane. I remembered the happy times when my parents took us to the park in Perth. They would sit on the bench while watching us jumping in the air, trying to catch falling maple tree leaves.

They said, with each leave we catch we can make one wish. Greedy me. I caught a lot of leaves and made a lot of wishes... So many that I lost count of them. I can't remember my wishes either. Too many to remember I guess.

It is a great memory. Everytime I see maple tree or fallen leaves, I think of our carefree moments in the park and what my parents said about maple tree leaves. It's interesting how something so small can leave a deep mark in my mind.

I wonder if any of my wishes came true...

Hmmm... Probably...

All In One

Life is heavenly when u get everything u like in one place...

I love, absolutely love taro, pork, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, onions etc. So much that I think I'd die without them! Hehe, may be not that serious. Just that my life would be very miserable.

The other day, I decided to cook everything I like.... in a pot. Not something my mum would do unless she is cooking bu bu cha cha. With these ingredients, She would be able to create many dishes. Not me though. I didn't inherit any of mum's talents :( Hence, a pot of everything-porridge with my all my favourites :P Simple yet delicious.

My everything-in-one-pot Porridge

My 'inspiration' (craving?) came from the sweet potatoes porridge I had on my final night in Taipei. I had FOUR (or was it five? aww, too many that I lost count!) bowls of that porridge! I wonder what went through the waitress' mind when we asked for re-fill again and again and again and etc.... ;p

I have no idea why I love sweet potatoes so much. Even the beautiful sea view of Tan Shui 淡水 couldn't keep me interested. As soon as I saw a cart full of sweet potatoes, I ran over and bought TWO. Naturally sweet and very creamy! Love it!

The potatoes were HUGE!

We must have made the charcoal-baked sweet potatoes look extra-tasty for the couple behind us got attracted too

Hmmm... I couldn't help wondering why I like sweet potatoes so much though - was I a couch 'sweet potato' in my previous life? oh, I think I must have been a SWEET couch potato lah hehe...

Better Left Empty

I washed the fish tank and filled it with cleaner water on Monday. I
know how particular goldfish are with their water so I made sure that I put in a mixture of their 'dirty' water which they didn't seem to mind swimming in + rain water + chlorine-free tap water.

2 days later, all my goldfish died *sob sob* I'm now left with a tank filled with fresh water but no fish :'(

What went wrong?! Did I put in too much clean water? Sigh... so sad to see my pets dead... I am not going to get more fish. I'm just going to leave the tank empty the way it is from now on... just like what my dad did....

My mistake costs 3 lives! That's too much to accept.... I'm a fish killer :(

No time to Lose

I'm exhausted! I tried to do many things in one go. I'm not being greedy.
Just proper utilisation of my precious time ;p

I decided to start my mega project of tidying up my room last Sunday. Really tidying it up - throw away broken items, donate old clothes, re-arrange my bedroom furnitures etc. It was like treasure (or garbage?) hunting for me. I took everything out from every hidden corners. Gosh! How did WE manage to collect so many things? I don't even know what some of the things are or that they even exist!

Looking at the mess that is now occupying my room and the common area
just outside my room, I wonder how so many things can be kept in such a little space!

Actually, I kind of regret and wish that I hadn't started with the
cleaning and just lived with the junks which were well-hidden anyway ;p Oh well, it's too late now. I can't stop now that I've started. I just have to keep torturing myself until i get it done T_T and telling myself that the journey is hard but the result will be sweet.... which i can hardly wait!

Oh, also in between of breaks, I salted a Chinese cabbage for kimchi
(which i only remembered to rub in the paste at 1200am) and made potato salad for potluck. It was a crazy hot day but am glad of the results. Although it will take me forever to complete my mega project, but at least I've already gotten 2 little ones done. mann... that feels good!

Oh btw, this is my finishing product - Kimchi. After 2 days of fermentation.

I made kimchi so often that I think I'm becoming an expert in making kimchi... Anyone wants to buy from me? hehe...

Very Convenient!

Hey, I kinda like having curly hair now. Because there is no combing required at all, although my straight hair didn't need much attention either ;p

I realised that I forgot to brush my hair when I got to office and saw my reflection in the car window this morning. Ooopps, I've totally forgotten as I was too occupied in the kitchen making my breakfast. It was a little, just a little wild. Nvm, curly hair means it's okie for the hair to be messy anyway hiak hiak...

Oooo, I found out during lunch just now that I could even tie my hair up without any devices. Cool! That's something I couldn't do with my straight hair previously hair!

Hehe, I wonder what other interesting discoveries will come up next...

Happy Chap Goh Mei!

元宵節快樂!

Today is the last day of CNY. I'm a bit sad that CNY is bidding farewell to us all because that means
  • No more excuse to eat lots of junk food without feeling guilty;
  • No more free fireworks show to watch at the comfort of my home; and
  • No more visiting of friends at their homes without having to give any reasons [although we don't need any reasons to visit knh's place. His mum (and grandma) PERSONALLY tells us to visit her place ANYTIME and as often as we can. Auntie K, WE WILL!! We like you too! ;p]
The only way to cheer myself up on this day is to look forward to the big meal tonight d(^V^)P Hooray... *happy*

Hmm.. I'm so easily satisfied ^^

The Pefect Oneeee

After 2 weeks of painful hunt at every possible places and corners of Kch (very exhausting), I am so happy that I've finally found THE ONE! Hip Hip Hooray..!

I got this bookshelf for my room yesterday. Just the right kind I've imagined. And at a very reasonable price! I've asked a lot of friends and searched a lot of places for it. They are either too big, just the right size but no doors, too fragile or too expensive. Is my standard to high or what? haha...

Mum recommended the place yesterday, i went today and got what the perfect one! Haiyaaaaa, I should've asked mum earlier. Then i could've started my big project earlier (as if!) ;p

oh btw, my big project this Ox year is to turn my war-zone like room into a sanctuary (although it is already one for me ;p) that I dare to show ppl of. Fingers crossed and wish me luck because I don't know if that will ever happen. Procrastination is my middle name ;p

Guess Who

hehe, i can imagine his reaction when he sees this picture. We were laughing like mad when we captured the moment. He didn't know. He was too busy. Probably dreaming abt swimming (and eating at the same time) in foodland. Or may be his choo choo train was so loud that he couldn't hear us.

I really think he deserves a post of his own. He is the only person I know who can sleep anywhere anytime. And he sleeps in style. Just look at his relaxed pose! So carefree, so so.... funny but in a cute way (me just being polite here ;p).

I took a similar picture of him lying on the exact same chair a last year. I'm impressed with his sleeping ability. He really enjoys sleeping.

No wonder he said he doesn't have time to jog...

"where did the salted fish smell come from?"

"crap! it's my armpit!"

Is that the same clothes he wore 1.5 years ago?

Same Same?

I'm starting to get used to my new hairdo.

With my curly hair, Jane and I are more confusing than ever. Strangers and friends think we look very alike, almost the same like this. Even Jane thinks I look like her! Errr, why not the other way round? Hmmpphh...

We went for a haircut last weekend. After the trim, our hairdresser looked at us in the mirror and said we look exactly the same. We've always thought we didn't look the same. Just very similar. But that day, we had to agree. We look THE SAME.

Us after hair trim

Spooky huh?

p/s: Somebody sneakily had her head slightly behind the other to create a 'perfect tiny face' effect. So cunning huh? haha...
