The Angel and The DeVil

Yu, can be adorable and thoughtful like an angel. He says the most adorable things and says "OK" to everything u ask him to do and do just what you tell him to do.

At the same time, he can be a devil and that is when we really want to pack him into a box and send him home. You tell him to do 1, silence. You ask him if he hears what you say. Silence. You get mad at him and tell him to do it RIGHT NOW and he refuses and talks back and bad.

Parents. I salute u... for having to deal with this every day.

That day we went to Kuching Festival together to pull him out of his iPad, handphone, games addiction.  At first, he said he wanted to play some games to win a gift. After going round the games corner twice, he did some analysis and said, nah, the games are scams. Even if he wins, the value of the prize doesn't match the money he pays 😅 He is such a calculative careful boy.

We went to the AC area to see gifts and merchandizes. Yu is quite good at lego assembling and we saw shops selling many types of cartoon legos. The smallest set is only RM4.99 each.  According to Yu, this is cheap so we decided to each get one. Yu promised that he would assemble for us before his vacation ends. So, Yu bought a Lufi, Jane bought a Minnie Mouse and I bought a Tigger. Jane also bought a completed Pooh Bear which the cashier displayed at her counter for RM4.99.

Of course, it was through a lot of pushing and 'bribing" that he finally completed his Rufi and my Tigger. Poor Jane, her minnie mouse is still in "pieces". HA! Jane paid RM4.99 for a completed pooh bear is definitely more value for money than getting Yu to assemble for us 😂

Tigger and cactus done by Yu

I was hoping that I could have one set of Pooh & Friends Lego one day. I wonder if that hope would ever come true.

Someday, May be someday...

No refrigerator? No problem

I brought a bottle of apple cider which i bought in Paris to drink with my colleagues. Awww, I kinda miss my Paris trip, how i wish I don't have to come back to reality... more about that next time hehe,,,

Chilled apple cider is the best but the problem is, we do not have a refrigerator in the office :( So we decided to chill it the primitive way. Well, when you are faced with limitations, you just gotta be creative to find your way round it instead of giving up... Maybe that's how we were trained since young...

My colleague accompanied me to the kopitiam behind our office where I managed to get a bag of ice for $1.... So we chilled our apple cider like this:

My version

As there were still some leftover ice in the plastic bag, my colleague decided that we should fully utilise the whole bag of ice and this is her version:

French apple cider in plastic bag of ice

We couldn't stop laughing at this sight. I think my version is more 优雅 but the 2nd one worked just fine hahaha...

A couple of days ago, Jane asked my brother-in-law who is an expert in wine, whether the Champagne she bought in Epernay would be spoilt in the hot weather since she needs to bring it from her home to office where travel time is about 45 minutes. My BIL suggested that she keeps it cool.

So Jane, here is an inspiration for you. I think champagne in a plastic bag of ice is just ideal for you. There, I solve your problem hehe...

Incident in the plane~~

i have never been in a flight for 12 hours straight before. The longest is only 7 hours... I remember the last time i took a flight to Brisbane, i spent the whole time eating, drinking and watching movies. Luckily I slept for 8 hours as soon as i boarded A380 to Paris at 12am. I didn't care that I missed my supper (rarely happened as i'm a food addict hehe). When i woke up, i found packs of snacks on my table. Love how thoughtful the MAS flight attendants were!

Something  bad almost happened when i was in the plane~  I had my best travel companion, Rabbit nicely tucked behind my neck when i went to dreamland. When i woke up, it was gone! I asked the flight attendant if she has seen it~  She said it might have fallen onto the floor and kicked elsewhere by the passengers. So I bent down to look around but couldn't see a thing as the lights in the cabin was off.

The flight attendant then went to get a torchlight and crawled on the floor in her tight uniform to look for my companion. Then she got up and said to me apologetically that she couldn't find it but maybe we could look for it again when we landed, when all the passengers left. I felt touched at her helpfulness and embarrassed at the same time. I told her it's OK. Deep down, i was prepared to lose Rabbit... After all, the plane is huge~ And it might have been taken by someone anyway since Rabbit is so cute :P

When we were almost landing, the flight attendant knelt down to look for Rabbit again and this time, she found it! Oh my! She is really something! Thanks for not giving up! ^^

I don't know if anyone is interested to hear about my trip but I will write it anyway coz it's MY diary! hahahaha...

We-fie with Eiffel Tower
Sorry to scare u all~ i tried to hide behind but
my hand isn't long enough @_@

Jenn is a Food Addict!!

I can resist all kind of temptations but when it comes to food, I find it hard to resist... T___T and would do anything to have it...  There, my answer to why I can't fit into my older dress :S

While on my way to take a bus to the airport, I spotted these cute looking egg puddings in real egg shells! Gosh, they looked delish and simply screamed "eat me!". I stood in front of the counter for a while, wondering whether I should add more weigh to my already heavy bags. What's more, these little devils need to be refrigerated, would they go bad after a 12-hour journey? Otherwise, my effort and cash would be wasted! And it's sinful to waste food too!

Must try when in Taipei!

Have an egg pudding after my home-cooked lunch

The next moment, I found myself telling the cashier that I wanted to take away one box of their delicious egg puddings. T___T I always have weak will power when it comes to food.... Fortunately, they remained fresh and yummy when I got home. My mum loved it too... both of us were fighting for the puddings and i wished I had gotten 2 boxes instead! one for her and one for me....!

Since I'm on the food topic now, i want to tell u something I eat lately. We all know that instant noodles isn't healthy and we should avoid eating it as much as we can... but what if the instant noodles is good for your health ....? Like this one....

The other morning, mum didn't make me any breakfast.... So i grabbed a packet of the Chinese Herbal flavour vegetarian noodles and ran to work... The pantry of my office is 4 levels below where I am so I decided to cook in my own way.. I wasn't being lazy, it's just that, going down and climbing up will spoil my appetite hehe... So, how did i cook my breakfast?

Ready to enjoy in 2 minutes!

It was quite good. There are real wolfberries too! wow, so healthy! My vision was sharpened immediately! haha...  Too bad i didn't remember to take some veggie on my way out. It would have been healthier!

Nah never mind, i can always cook a healthier one next time~

The things mum do for us

While cleaning one of the cupboards in the house, i found a dress mum made for Little Jane and Jenn, when we were 4 or 5. It looks really teeny weeny! With my king kong size now, it is kinda difficult for me to imagine that i was once so tiny! haha.... Hmmm... what did my parents feed me when I was small? :P
We have an old-fashioned sewing machine at home. U know, the one that has wooden frame and to get the needle moving, u  need to paddle and paddle and paddle ... Yup, that antique belongs to my mum. She used it a lot when we were small to make us dresses.  We would stand in front of her with our hands stretch out while mum measured us here and there so she could make us dresses that fit perfectly.  Apart from that, she also made bedsheets, pillow cases, cushion covers, table cloth, quilt cover etc ...

Mum is really talented. Not only is she outstanding in cooking but can also sew well. you know what? I think i have inherited her talents because I could sew and cook too (yeah, even I can't believe this! Good thing I captured these unbelievable happenings as proves.. Pls see DIY) ahahaha... just that am still at the kindergarten level :S

I remember that mum made me a dress to wear to a piano examination. It was light blue (my favourite!) in colour and has a blue ribbon at the neckline. It was really pretty...  And because it was full of mum's love, i looked really pretty in that dress ( although my natural beauty is 50% of the reason why it looked so pretty :P *厚脸皮* )

Now that we have grown up, mum stops making us dresses... Instead she buys for us... it's her way to show her love... of course, her love has brought some tragedies too like, 2 months ago, she actually exchanged my newly purchased DREAM clothes for something else because she thought I didn't want them T___T Okie i should let the past be buried and not mention about it anymore haha....

Lately, mum is into something I would never buy...

Polka dots blouse + matching bag!

I have always felt that polka dots isn't for me. Ha, don't ask me why, it's just not my thing.... Surprisingly, they don't look awkward on me at all! wow, mum actually changes the way I think about polka dots! :P

Guess i will always be the little girl in my mum's eyes... she even made me a cute bedsheet this CNY. Hmmm.. I wonder what I will get from mum next CNY... i wish for a pyjamas with cute prints!

I will let you know once i receive anything from mum ya!

The forgotten one....

Many many years ago, I broke the branch of a plant at B's home and took it home to plant (wow, it rhymes! haha).. I  found a pot by the corner of our garden and stuck the branch into the soil..... and totally forgot about its existence... *cruel...*

One morning after many many years, I got attracted by the floral perfume.. it smelled very refreshing! Where did it come from? So I went to the garden searching for the source of the fragrant... And then I saw it! I was ecstatic to see the flower ~ Jasmine! It was real!

Sob sob, it was soOOoo beautiful! Although it was forgotten by me and didn't have any my tender care and love, my Jasmine plant didn't get upset at me.. It still continued to grow and grow and grow under the harsh conditions (no fertiliser, no water, no sunlight, no love... :( Jenn's bad!)... I did not treat it well at all but I didn't mind... and even bloom to cheer me up... That's Unconditional Love!

My forgotten Jasmine

Don't u think it's beautiful? It looks so pure ... just like me.. buahahahaha....

Can't stop eating!

Cooking is an easy task for my mum. She can turn anything into a yummy meal without any problem.. She is like a magician in the kitchen!

I remember when we were studying in AUS, she would make seven layers kuih, ham jim peng, tou sa pao, sticky rice and other hometown delicacies for us to eat... for she knew how much we missed them.... Mum's cooking is always the best! The food are always bursting with her love and also ingredients! haha... We always laughed that, if she were to sell them in shops, she wouldn't make any money at all... She did make to sell a few times, upon friends' requests. In the end, those 'businesses' turned into charity work haha....

Mum must be feeling inspired again.. Because when I returned home yesterday, she immediately came to the door and happily told me that she had made chai kuih, sponge cake, BBQ pork buns and white bread.. Then she started pulling everything out and put on a plate for me to eat... i felt as if I was having a buffet at home! haha..

I had to stop her from giving me too much snacks... not that I don't appreciate her kindness, but because it was dinner time.. and i saw that there were 1 pot of black bean pork soup, 1 pot of pork leg soup, omelet & vege on the table, waiting for me to finish! I finished everything mum gave me and also the omelet, vege and some pork leg and black bean pork... *burp*

This morning, I had 3 BBQ pork buns for breakfast. I also brought with me a few pieces of sponge cakes and white bread + strawberry and apricot jam for tea break... Gosh, they went soOOooo well with a cup of coffee!

Stop to fill my stomach so can continue to work hard!

It was a wonderful morning...! *la la la... *

Super Sized!

Mum received a last minute invitation the other day.. it was a food party at somebody's home..

Mum wanted to cook something to bring over but it was too short a notice.... We quickly went shopping for a present for her friend and we came home with a packet of plain flour, butter, sugar... How I tempted just to nicely wrap them, enclose a DIY recipe and give away but.... we are too thoughtful to do that...... it's just not our style... As soon as we reached home, mum wasted no time to start making presents.

I remember, when mum said she wanted to bake pineapple tarts as presents for her friend at the supermarket, my eyeballs almost dropped out... she had to be at her friend's place in 3 hours time, enough time or not? It sounds like a big project, it would need a lot of time and energy.... don't want my mum to be exhausted... mum said caaaaaaaaaaannnnnnn... it's easy.. can be ready in 20 mins time... 20 mins???? so confident huh? Hope that also includes cleaning time...

As soon as we reached home, mum started mixing flour, butter, sugar and eggs together to make the pastry while I got the pineapple filling ready and separated an egg for brushing... then she wrapped the fillings up to make little pineapples.... within 5 mins, one batch of pineapple tarts was baking in the oven... and within a few mins, our house smelled heavenly! loved the smell! it felt as if we were welcoming CNY!! \(^V^)/

While the pineapple tarts were baking, I did the cleaning. just a bowl, a knife and a brush to wash.. so simple! Gotta salute my mum for that! She made the impossible so easy!

1st batch ouf of the oven!
I tried to eat the round one but FAILED..
Too hot to handle! :p
Her friend loved the tarts.. Her eyeballs almost dropped out when she saw the size of the tarts. SoooOOOoo BIG!

Pineapple tart as big as my palm

She better gets used to it coz my mum always super-sizes her products.... sushi rolls bursting with ingredients, sandwiches about 1 storey high etc... that's my mum... her heart is always bursting with love ^^

A gift of love

I just received my first birthday present for the year! And my birthday is still 2 months away...\(^V^)/

Like jane said, good surprises once in a while spice up life and give your heart some positive boost... But life is life, nobody can avoid bad ones too ... Let's just hope these ones don't happen too often :P

My friend passed me a nicely wrapped present a few days ago. She said she couldn't wait til my birthday to give me, hence an early birthday wish..... I, on the other hand, COULD wait for my birthday to come because I wanna stay at 25 forever.... but any early birthday presents are sure welcomed ^^

What could it be?

Like others, I shook the present up and down to try and guess what's inside. It totally made no sound! Also, holding the gift in my hand felt.... 'empty'. It was like having nothing in my hand! Then I started to wonder if my friend was actually playing a joke on me... is it really... empty? >_<

Can't blame me for having such suspicion because once upon a time, I was tricked...... by very own flesh and blood sister......

One year, we siblings decided that we should have gifts exchange on Xmas day.... presents started to pile up under the tree and one big box had my name on it. It was darn heavy too! I was so excited.. What could it be?

On 25th of December 1994 (yes, i remember the darn date too!), I practically tore open my present.... The gift box was filled with paper balls.... i dug thru them and at the very bottom, I found a big chunk of rock! Ha! I wish it was a big diamond! The rock wasn't even new! It was taken (or should i say, borrowed) from our garden! You couldn't imagine how disappointed I was.... then something made me smile thru my tears... there was a set of pinkish heart-shaped hair pins! They were so pretty... and what made it special is that, it was a gift from my sister's heart....

Back to my original topic, although the gift felt as if it was empty, i was sure my friend had stuffed her 'love' in it... it's a matter of whether I could feel it or not.... I carefully tore open the present and guess what i saw....

A kitty cat in my favourite colour! My friend handmade it herself...

Say meowwww....

Am so touched *sob sob*

You know, nothing can bother u if you have a positive heart and mind....

Fun with Family

It's super late but better than never right? :P

This year, after lots of mails sending and phone calls, our long awaited family trip finally materialised! *hip hip hooray!!* With siblings everywhere, it was quite difficult to decide on a meeting point. HA! And i thought setting a date that is OK for everyone is hard enough!

When I was small, we had family trips very often. I remember us going to Genting Highlands, KL, Penang, SIN, Perth..... Then when we studied in Aust, my parents would take us on family road trips during school holidays... We stopped at small towns along the way until we reached our final destination. It was great fun! While my dad drove, we, the kids just ate, talked, enjoyed the scenery, fell asleep then woke up, ate, talked, enjoyed the scenery, fell asleep then woke up, ... the cycle begins again & again..... Thinking back now, I really miss that kind of family trips! Simple yet memorable...

Now, we all live in different countries and family trips become impossible. We've been trying to arrange one LONG AGO but someone always couldn't make it :( That's the trouble for having big family and everyone scattered everywhere...

This year, my parents decided that we should have our long awaited family trip in Brisbane. Yup, a place with no CNY feel at all but it sure has a lot of sunshine (& seafood!) to offer.... Unlike summer in Perth, there are no annoying, as-big-as-a-black-bean flies to bug us! and the weather is not too hot...

We rented a car to drive around and we all think that Brisbane ppl are kind and patient. We did many last minute lane change as we were not v familiar with the way and not once did we get a 3rd finger greeting, 'friendly' shouts or being honked at! Amazing ppl right?

We also rented an apartment in the city.. and it overlooked Story Bridge. Very nice view... It was a relaxing family trip. We didn't try to do too many things in a day.. just taking it easy... oh, but we did eat a little too much in Brisbane... We never have any problem when it comes to food.... if only it was the same for our family trip arrangement, then we wouldn't have to wait so long for it to happen!! Haha...

And I drank lots of coffee and choc while in Brisbane.... just couldn't resist since these are their specialties. I can't imagine what their milk tea will taste like! u gotta eat and drink what they are good at! Gotta be flexible to change taste according to the culture ^^ That's my food philosophy when holidaying. But.... NO BUGS plssss....

How I miss our family vacation.. I wonder when our next one will be.....

important to me

Jane said that when she moves into her new place in Shanghai, she will definitely get an oven. I know Jane didn't have an oven during her years in HK so why all of a sudden, she wanted an oven? She baked apple cinnamon cake twice after we got our oven here and that was AGES ago. May be she wants to toast her bread? Knowing her, she would rather eat it plain than having to go through the trouble. Right, Jane? hehe...

For me, I can live without an oven, an electric kettle, a toaster, a blender, a microwave (which i still don't have at home) but I CANNOT live without a rice cooker *How Do I Live playing in the background*

Lately, I've discovered the wonders of a rice cooker. It doesn't only cook rice but i can also cook porridge, green bean/barley/red bean/potato soup, boiled eggs, egg pudding, chicken rice, minced pork with salted fish, pork rib with black bean/peanut soup, veggie, black glutinous rice dessert... the list just goes on! Oh ya, how can i forget ~ my new invention - Chinese style spaghetti!

Whoever invented the rice cooker is a genius! And of course, whoever can use a rice cooker to make various dishes is gotta be a genius too :P

Saw this pink rice cooker on the internet. So cuteee... I want oneeeeeeeeee... even if it is just for deco....

Busy busy like a bee

Last weekend was full of actions for me... lots of food, lots of fun and lots of people wanted a piece of me! OOoo... it felt so good to be in high demand hiak hiak hiak....

I wasn't the VIP, although i should be because i was the birthday star! The VIPs were my sister who returned from Paris for a short 2 day stay (she is still on the plane to Paris as I'm typing.. poor thing) and my buddy who came visit me only once in a purple (her fav colour) moon. A good friend of mine also returned from KL for the weekend. We didn't manage to meet up because by the time i had time for her, she was already on the way to airport! *Opppsi*

Then, I also rejected a party invitation for Saturday night... I just hope that i won't be "de-listed" from their party list next time since this is the 2nd time I rejected them. Haizzz... now i know how celebrities live and feel!!

Sis brought back goodies from Paris. I can't afford to visit her in Paris so she brought Paris back. Tada...

Cheese & chocolate from Paris and nougats from Spain

It's nice having siblings around the world. But that also means, we only get to see each other once a year and having everybody together in one place is impossible... When is the last time all of us gathered together ah? When I was in primary school i think....

I feel bluer today compared to other Mondays coz everyone left me yesterday :( I think the fact that Jane's leaving HK permanently today also made me feel a little bit sad too coz that means the next time she comes home, I won't get any of my favourite pineapple buns from HK anymore, even a pancake-like one :((

The dark clouds got blown away fast and rainbows come out after rain. I feel wonderful right now! In fact, i feel colourful (how confusing!?) right now because I made friends with 12 colourful friends last weekend. They really bring big big smile to me!

Cute or not?

Why so Blue??

Feeling very blue today...

Not only it's monday today, it's also the first work day after 3 joyful rest days... After days of eat, sleep, play, no wonder I am feeling more blue than other mondays! (-_-) I wanna continue to eat sleep play! And all those curries, satays, muruku, masak merah, cake lapis etc that I had during Hari Raya, I want to eat them again!!!

Here is a picture irrelevant to the topic... I posted it just because

Eat sleep play do-nothing life

I'm looking forward to another holiday in 3 days time! yayeeeee.... Now i'm happy with excitement! My life is colourful once again! Yipee!

Can't get enough of .....

Strawberries!

I think no girls in the universe could resist the cute little red thing. Even if you don't like the taste, you will like its vibrant red look. It has the colour of happiness... *la la la....*

It was dark and rainy that day. The cold and gloomy weather must have affected everyone as ppl seemed to be in grey mood... Then something bright like a shining star in the dark sky caught our attention. Wooo, the strawberry shop we'd been looking for! It was like sunshine to us, except that the sunray is PINK! Waahhh... strawberries! Many many strawberries! There were strawberries everywhere. In and on every sinful cakes! *drooling* And even strawberry candies, soft toys, hair accessories etc....

Woohahaha.. Me became alived instantly.. Hmmm.. which one to buy??? There are all sOOOooo pretty and yummy looking... Buy all? cannot.. I just ate 94738540 things just now... *burp* After a long fight between my right brain and left brain, we finally agreed on this...

Delicious! I was in heaven for about 10 mins!

.... and i get to keep the beautiful glass as well! Wuhooo, so value for money! hehe...

What I've been doing...

I have not updated my blog for quite some time. Swollen thumb needs to rest... Hehe... I was being lazy actually. It's Easter holiday after all! The time to rest my brain and do nothing....

Over the not-so-long holiday, I was busy with lots of eating, playing and walking. Didn't sleep as much as I wanted but that's alright. All the eating, playing and walking kept me energetic.

This is what I've been doing....

Macau & HK

I came home with lots of cherished memories, a starving purse and a bursting tummy! ;p This is what i call..... HOLIDAY!!

Family Time

We used to travel together as a family very often when I was small. Every school holidays, we would be heading somewhere, even if it was just a resort 45 minutes away from home. It was great fun! I have a lot of fond memories about our family retreats.

However, as each of us grow older (& busier with our own lives), the tradition of family holidays slowly vanishes. The last family trip I remember, happened ages ago. As all my sibblings are all over the place, it's just so difficult to gather all of us in one place, at the same time! So difficult that we haven't had a family meal with EVERYONE around the table for years. It's that sad, i know....

After months of discussion, persuasion, frustration (so hard to set a suitable time!) and research, guess what happens? We managed to revive our tradition of family retreats! *Yayeeeee...* FINALLY!

This coming Sunday, we are off to Melbourne where my youngest brother is. The destination is not my greatest concern. Anywhere is good as long as it's a place where all my loved ones are :)

Let's see how much Mel has change....

A Cat named Meow

A year ago, Husky died of car accident. It was heart-breaking for me and my family, especially my mum. For the past year, each time someone has a dog or cat to give away, we always politely reject. Not that we hate animals. We are just afraid of the day we have to part with them. A fear that everyone has.

A year later, a friend has a kitten to give away. We decided to adopt her. Althought she is completely different from Husky (i.e. not a doggie; obviously. DUH!), she reminds me so much of Husky - the naugtiness, the madness, full of energy, the pickiness on food, the cheekiness and most importantly, they both got bullied by the same darn monster.

So different and yet so many similarities... I suspected that my kitten is actually Husky in a cat's body. Or am i thinking too much?

Our new pet - Meow.........

Ohhhh... Such an innocent look

Welcome to the family, Meow!

Stop and Stare

I find myself staring into the sky very frequently. Eyes not focusing on any particular object. Eyes also not blinking. Mind not thinking about anything. Body not moving an inch. Just staring. Blankly. Feeling the world goes by.

It's kinda mind-relaxing, you know.....

(Taken in Perth)
