Somebody asked me a question last night ~ if possible, is there anything in life you wish, could be changed?

A simple and straight forward question but I have no immediate answer for it. I know a standard answer I often read/hear in interviews though ~ "I wouldn't want to change anything in the past. What happened in the past made me who I'm today bla bla bla..." Yeah, easy for successful ppl to say... ;p

What about normal ppl, like u and me? That question really gets me into thinking! Is there or rather, ARE there things that I wish, could be changed or done differently? *still thinking hard* Hmm... DEFINITELY! ^^ Haha, does it mean that I'm an unsuccessful person? >_<"'

People always say, we should have no regrets for things we did. Theoretically correct & acceptable. But it's not that simple in real life. I'm sure there are people out there who wish they could turn back time and re-do or undo certain things. May be to go back & stop 'yourself' from investing your hard-earned $$ in shares that give your big fat zeroes? Or convince 'yourself' to take up that opportunity you'd let go coz you didn't have a good feeling about it & now it's big? Or talk 'yourself' into buying that expensive bag because you cannot find it elsewhere and now you wish you had bought it? The list is endless..... I'm sure we all have some regrets (small and big) in some points of our lives and wish that we could've done something to correct them. After all, we are only human.

It's a BOY!

Baby Tim, my 16th nephew came to the world last Friday. Everyone in my family is ecstatic. Not because he is a boy, mind u. It's because he is healthy :) I always say health is wealth ^^

Am not sure when I will be able to see Baby Tim in person. I think by the time I visit him in AUS, he will no longer be a baby but a toddler who won't be able to stand still for 5 seconds. Kids grow up fast! I must make sure that I've tonnes of energy to tackle him and other nephews and nieces of mine. Kids... I wonder where they get their energy from!?!

My nephews and nieces love us. Everytime we visit them, the kids get super-excited and will keep pestering their mums to let them go home with us. Yup, they adore us ^^ Who don't? haha... ;p

I adore them too. They can be quite wild but in an adorable way ;p Kinda miss them now... & I bet they miss us too.................

Will Power

Lately, I am obsessed with both Korean and Indian Food. After having Indian three times last week, I decided to have Korean for a change. So, yesterday I made some Kong Jang (soybean side dish), a savoury dish I've wanted to try making long ago.

Was already boiling the soybeans half way when I realised that we don't have light soy sauce! I found bottles of sweet soy sauce, thick/dark soy sauce and fish sauce by the stove but there was no sign of light soy sauce! It was still early in the morning. I didn't feel like going out PLUS supermarkets don't open until 9am. Haaiii... worse come to worse, I might have to turn the cooking soybean into 糖水 (sweet soup). I wonder how disgusting it would taste ;p

I was quite sure that we have a bottle of light soy sauce somewhere coz I remembered mum getting one just a few weeks ago. Soy sauce is the most essential seasoning of this dish! So, the search continued.

My determination and persistence paid off. I finally found it! *so relieved* There wasn't much left but it was better than having none.

My Kong Jang tasted superb! It goes so well with celery sticks, porridge, rice and anything your creative mind can think of!



I'm definitely making more to keep in the fridge this weekend :) This time, I must check my ingredients beforehand or else, it would be yucky sweet soybean soup ;p

Treat or Trick?

I was checking out some imported food in a supermarket the other day. Imported stuff are expensive but there is no harm in indulging in expensive but good quality food once in a while ^^ Must know how to reward ourselves so we have more motivation to work harder :p

Then I came across a box of my favourite cereal with an orange price tag which says "RM4.95". RM4.95?! That's a bargain! It usually costs RM24.95! With that kind of reduced-price, there must be at least one reasons. This is how supermarkets in KCH operate. Food don't go on sale for no reason over here.... So I checked the expiry date on the back of the box. I was right. It is best before April 2008.

Instinctively, I did some 'calculations' in my mind (Hehe, blame this habit on my profession ;p) ~ if i eat cereal every morning before I go to work, I should be able to finish that in 2 weeks. Also, less than RM5 for a box of imported cereal? Who can resist that? And being a gal, sale items are hard to ignore haha...

I happily brought this box of cereal to the counter for payment. *already thought about my breakfast tomorrow* The cashier scanned it and said "RM24.95" to me. Oh, she must have forgotten to press the 'discount' button on the cash register. So I kindly informed her about the discounted price, pointing at the orange price tag which was stuck over the original white price tag at the same time. She picked it up and examined. Yes Ah Moi, it said RM4.95 alright... Thought she would punch the new amount into her cash register but to my horror, she scratched the orange tag away with her finger nail, made it into a ball and then showed me the cereal box ~ "Nah, ini RM24.95" T_T I didn't know how to react! Hmmm.... Was she being smart or dumb?!

I looked at her in disbelief as well as frustration. Being a civilised person, I nicely told her that she wasn't supposed to that. I even went to great length to tell her that this is expiring soon and is actually on sale! She just looked at me blankly, like all other 'customer service' ppl in KCH and gave me the standard answer that she needs to check with her supervisor. Arrr, forget it! I don't have time to wait for her clarification with her supervisor when an orange tag already said it all. I told her to keep the almost-expired cereal and walked away. Still couldn't believe what just happened.

This is the thing we have to put up with over here. The customer service ppl should be re-educated! Am not sure if we will ever succeed in transforming here into a civilised place though. Many employers here don't see the importance of good customer service. Making more money is on top on their agenda and hiring ppl with less education to save labour costs is one way to achieve that........... & what do you get when you get a 3 year-old to do an adult job?

*sigh* Guess we will have to continue to put up with the crappy services :( or move elsewhere ;p

Healthier Hair

It's time for a change.... I have been having the same hair colour (& hairstyle) for the past 2 years. Wanted a different hairstyle, probably something outrages since I only live once ;p But 10 out of 10 of my friends advised that I should stick to long & straight hair *yawn* Boriiinnnggg....

However, with that kind of feedback, I think I should not (& better don't) try to be too adventurous and creative with my hair ;p Not that I'm not a risk taker. It's just that I'm not working in the 'creative' industry where I'm allowed to express myself freely and wildly ><"' If I want to keep my job, then I better abide by the 'rules'. Hmm... no wonder ppl say accountants are boring ^^ [Actually, not all accountants are boring. Many of my friends are very interesting & funny people. We just take our jobs seriously ;p]

Gone is my previous 'ang mo' look. Am now back to the Oriental look ~ healthy, shiny dark hair, the kind u see in Panteen commercial *V*

Wish I could have just-out-of-salon-hair everyday. Yup, having no bad hair days is every girl's dream! Hmmm... not sure if it's every girls' lah but it's definitely one of mine.

People say "世上没有丑女人，只有懒女人" [there are no ugly women, just lazy ones]。 I think that's only partly true. If I were as rich as those A-list female celebrities in Hollywood, I wouldn't have to worry about bad hair days or wearing the same clothes N times or clothes that don't flatter me. These problems would be handled by all my designers whose full time job is to make me pretty, from head to toe! *day dreaming*

I think a slight change should be made to the phrase ~ "世上没有丑女人，只有没钱的女人" [there are no ugly women, just women who don't have $ ~~ like me!!]. Agree?

I would ALWAYS look sophisticated like "Bridget" in the pic on the right if i had my very own personal hairdresser!

Taste of Life

Life is so unpredictable! Even after proper planning, we still don't get what we want! This is the time we feel disappointed and start to hate life. I figure that the more expectations we have, the more disappointments there will be. Probably, I should learn not to have any expectations so I won't be disappointed? But if i don't set any expectations, will I eventually lose sight of what I want in life? Oh man, life is something I cannot understand. Too complicated for someone who only wants simplicities in life....

Am supposed to go mountain climbing in Kota Kinabalu next week but it is not happening anymore :( Bought tickets last year, determining to concur the mt this year. 唉...人算不如天算。The quarters located on mid-mt are fully-booked. We called the National Park last year and were told to call on the reservation opening date. We know that the number of beds in the quarters is very limited so we called on the specified date first thing in the morning. 8am to be exact. The weird thing is that, we were told that the place has already been fully-booked *scratching head* So fast? How can that be??

Went thru every possible ways we could think of to make our dreams come true.. But No Luck.... So some of us (me included) gave up and decided to 'donate' the airfare $ to Air Asia instead. What a waste of money, i know. Well, it's better than going to KK and having nothing to do for 5 days. Even doing nothing costs money, you know. haha, very calculative i know. What to do? I'm a poor bean counter ;P

Anyway, I have been to KK several times before & since my main reason of going to KK isn't happening, so I am proud to announce that I'm letting Air Asia take my hard-earned money without having to perform any services ........ unless someone wants my ticket for 50 bucks. Hee hee.....

p/s: it costs 50 bucks for name change. Anyone interested, pls let me know. Am serious! ^^

This is what I miss out!

美丽的回忆

为何记忆里的画面总是比较美丽？

很多时候，我们为了寻找记忆里的某一些东西而失去了眼前的幸福。有些东西失去，反而更想拥有。因为怀念以前的感觉而不断的寻找代替品。也有些人，到处寻找回忆里的感觉而迷失了方向。到底我们为了什么而活着，而生存？是为了寻找未来的幸福，还是寻找失去的快乐？

记得大学食堂的Nachos非常美味。我常和大伙在那里边谈天边吃Nachos。 不知是因为周边的朋友或是当时学生时代那有限的经济能力，一盘简单快餐式的Nachos对我来说非常可口。常常连盘都差点吞下去。

离开大学后，我常常都会不由自己的想起那盘简单快餐式的Nachos。这些年来，我尝试了各种不同的Nachos。为了就是寻找当时那盘平凡的Nachos的味道。有些的价格及素质甚至比大学食堂的更贵更好，然而它们的贵气及味道仍不及记忆里的美妙。寻找了那么多年，我还是在寻找。(-_-) 我想我想念的并不是大学食堂里的Nachos，而是当时的快乐时光吧。我可能早已忘了那盘Nachos的味道了。留在记忆里的并不是那盘普通Nachos的味道而是青春时期的味道吧。或许那盘Nachos并不美味，但我不自觉的美化了记忆中那平凡的Nachos了吧。

怪不得别人都称回忆为美丽的。

明白思念的理由后，终于觉得这盘Nachos好好吃哦 ^^y
